The RNLI have produced a very useful book and CD which is free of charge, pick one up at the marina they are in the rack in the shower block at Brixham or drop into the office, there is all sorts of useful safety information there.
Do you carry a liferaft aboard, if so have you done the RYA sea survival course? If not why not be taught what to do if it all goes horribly wrong, take a look at our RYA Basic sea survival course.
We are delighted to be running a VHF/SRC inc GMDSS course for the members of the Royal Dart Yacht Club tomorrow. Tim will be running the course and has got our portable VHF course kit with him.
With the cost of the new Class D DSC radio’s being as little as £65.00 many people have them fitted but don`t know how to use the DSC function. Why not come and do the new course with us, we run them every month at our school but if you are a Yacht Club or Sailing Club why not contact us to see what we can do for you.

After several weeks of hard work Zig Zag is almost ready to go. After she has had her hull scraped and re keyed, she has had several coats of antifoul, her topsides polished and her sails checked and cleaned.
Steve has cleaned all the upholstery and she is looking beautiful. I will upload some pictures of her when I’m on my computer.
First course starts next saturday, a 9 day Coastal skipper combi course, there is still one space aboard if you fancy going to the next level in your qualifications.

Thanks to all who came to our pilot courses this week, we had a great three days. Personal safety & social responsibilities, Elementary first aid and personal survival techniques.
We have put a programme of courses up on the website under the additional courses – STCW 95 pages, this will be added to over the next few days as we confirm the fire prevention and fire fighting courses dates. Over the next couple of weeks you should be able to pay for these and our RYA Shorebased courses online as we put an online booking system in place. STCW 95 Course pages
