Up to it’s usual form, the english summer has landed as a normal august! wind and rain…..
The Crew and I set off from Brixham on tuesday to Salcombe with…… you guessed it, into a head wind! so a beat it was into 22 knots of wind 33 nm through the water, 8.5 knots of boat speed and we eventually made it to Salcombe.
Yesterday was the same! the wind had gone round 180 degrees so we had another beat back to Dartmouth, 38 nm this time and going backwards was the order of the day, so we deployed the iron sail at Start point to get us through the wind and tide.
This morning is torrential showers but forecast to improve, the girls, Chris, Joanna & Ella have decided retail therapy is the option rather than another beat back to Brixham, so it’s down to Martin and I to get RumRunner back to Brixham.
Blog soon.
