We are hoping for a fair forecast, I will start checking the weather from wednesday.

If you fancy doing your  Competent crew or Day Skipper course then have a look at our website and check out the course dates.

Keep your eye on the Blog as I will be blogging throughout the course…… as long as my new dongle works!! :)

Powerboat courses will be coming soon….

Filed under: General Blogs — brixhamseaschool @ 12:57 pm

After 3 and a half days of varied weather from a nice quiet sunny day to torrential rain driven by a gusty F8 straight up the Exe estuary Steve and I are now RYA Power Boat Instructors.  Thanks to Matt for running the course for us, a most enjoyable, slightly soggy, few days.

So we will be offering Powerboat Level One and Powerboat Level Two courses in the near future aboard  a Ribeye 650 sport, so watch the website in march, and of course I will blog it.

Cheesy grin time.......

As we have joined the throng wanting to save Brixham Coastguard rescue centre, we were asked to pose with our lifering by the local paper…. The Herald Express.

So here it is the best of the three pictures, including cheesy grins…..

Look out for a quick few words in the paper over the next couple of days.

Save our Coastguards!!!!

Filed under: General Blogs — brixhamseaschool @ 3:05 pm

As hopefully all of you seafarers out there must have heard, the proposals are that 18 Coastguard Co-ordination Centres will be turned into THREE 24hr centres & FIVE that are only open during daylight hours.

Well we at Brixham sea school are joining in the fight to save our local station. You cannot replace local knowledge with a computer, and as we have some of the strongest tides in the world around our coasts, this cannot happen.

So if you feel as strongly as we do about this proposal please sign the petition here.

Bookings coming in thick and fast……..

Filed under: Shorebased Courses — brixhamseaschool @ 3:14 pm

Since our return from the boat show we have had lots of contact from everyone who stopped to chat on the stand and from those who just took a leaflet. So thank you very much for getting in contact and thank you even more for booking with us!!!! :)

The boats are filling up, so if you are thinking of spending some time adding to your skills this season give us a call to see what we have available.  We have spaces for Comp crews, Day Skippers (5 and 9 day) and Coastal Skippers (5 and 9 day) so if you are thinking about it get in contact so we can get you booked on.

Must get back to it now though, as I have just returned from visiting the latest addition to the family, Connor Douglas, it’s a bit of a way from Edinburgh to Brixham as well!
