Mile building cruises
During the course of the season we will be organising a couple of mile building trips, these will be aboard one of our yachts with a qualified RYA Instructor aboard. If you have mainly done short passages since you qualified and would like to ‘step up’ to a longer passage, perhaps with one through the night, taking charge of the yacht and calculating all of the tides and passaget/pilotage plans. One of these trips could be just what you are looking for.
Our planned cruises would be from our base in Brixham, Devon to various locations, examples of possible trips are belo
Brixham – Weymouth/Poole – Cowes – Brixham
Brixham – St Peters Port – Brixham
Brixham – Falmouth – Brixham
We would be visiting ports that you may not have been to before and rounding some of the headlands with notorious tides during the passage. During the trip you can get as involved as you would like or just come along for the experience. You will have the opportunity to plan the passage under the careful stewardship of the Instructor, it will be a chance for you to revisit the things you learned on your previous day Skipper or Coastal Skipper course, some of which you may not have used due to flotilla
holidays etc. where the navigation tends to be line of sight.
One or more of the passages will be over 65 nm, this would be a qualifying trip towards your Yachtmaster offshore Certificate.
Gibralter to Lanzarote - September 2012 this will qualify as an ocean passage, we will also be sailing around the Canary islands.
We will put details of these cruises on this page once dates have been set. If you have any questions regarding these cruises please contact us to discuss.
