CEVNI
So what is CEVNI?
Just when things start to make sense CEVNI or Code Europeen des Voies de Navigation Interieure, to give its full name, rears its head.
CEVNI is the rules of the road and regulations which cover all the interconnected waterways throughout Europe. If you want to travel on inland waterways such as the Canal du Midi, you need to prove that you understand these rules.
To do this you need to sit a test. This can be taken at an RYA recognised training centre and your ICC will then be endorsed to show that you have also sat the CEVNI.
All clear? It is a little bit confusing but essentially at the very worst you are going to have to take two tests, and however complex this may appear, they are there for your safety.
Beyond that, happy boating! The CEVNI allows you access to some of the most fascinating waterways in the world, but you do need the piece of paper before you can get out there and enjoy them.
- The CEVNI certificate consists of a short multiple choice question paper.
- The course is maximum duration of 4 hours or just come and take the test.
Courses are run at our purpose built classroom a few hundred yards from the pretty harbour in the centre of the bustling fishing port of Brixham, Torbay, Devon.
This test is also available online through our interactive learning site.
We have a maximum Student to Instructor ratio of 6:1 ensuring high interaction between Student and Instructor. All courses include free refreshments course notes and the current St John’s Ambulance manual.
