RYA Coastal Skipper Combi - Sail
RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster theory & Coastal Skipper practical combined “Master Class”
A comprehensive course covering 9 days and 9 nights on board. This is an advanced course in navigation and meteorology for candidates for the RYA Coastal skipper and leads on toward the Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore certificates.
The syllabus makes some provision for the revision of subjects covered in the RYA Day Skipper course but those who have not acquired the knowledge set out in the day skipper course are unlikely to be able to assimilate all the subjects covered in this advanced course. The aim of which is to teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a cruising yacht safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night.
Under the careful supervision of a fully qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructor, with a maximum ratio of three students to one instructor (four if couples sharing double cabins). With our low student to instructor ratios during the course you will have plenty of opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the practical and theory elements of the RYA Coastal Skipper syllabus.
The course is split into two sections, four days are classroom based and five days water based - typically 2 days classroom, 5 days water, 2 days classroom - throughout the nine days of the course you will be staying onboard the yacht. No need to find alternative accomodation!
All student theory course material is included in the price and a training Almanac, Plotter & dividers are available for loan.
Recommended minimum pre course experience 15 days sea time (2 days as skipper), 300 miles and 8 night hours. Navigation and sailing to day skipper standard
