testimonialHi Tim please find attached some pictures we took last weekend when sailing with you. Thank you so much for the weekend and showing us what sailing is all about. Loved it and will definitely try to do the day skipper course next year.

Website cropI'd put off continuing on to the next level from my Day Skipper qualification due to a lack of time. So when I suddenly found myself with time to kill, my first thought was 'I'm going sailing!  Having already completed a couple of courses with Brixham Sea School, I called there first and luckily there was a space on a Coastal Skipper course coming up. So at the beginning of June I found myself setting off on a 200 mile journey along the South coast, with instructor Steve and fellow student, Sayuri from Japan.

The course was pretty intense and both my sailing and theory were very rusty - but with patience, expert help and guidance and a lot of hard work my confidence grew day by day and I was thrilled to pass. My sailing ability has improved beyond belief and I loved the little challenges we were given along the way - such as steering failure, GPS failure and the simulated fog exercise!  Aside from that, Steve made sure we never went hungry, and our stay onboard Zig Zag was very comfortable - we didn't even have to do the washing up!
Next stop... Yachtmaster? Well, maybe next year! Thanks to all at Brixham Sea School and I'm sure I'll be back soon.

Simon chadwickHi Tim a quick note to say, thank you for leading an excellent Day Skipper practical course for Ed and I. We really enjoyed it and I feel the standard of instruction and the easy going way you approached it were both exceptional.

Andy Linda maryI've just returned from a fantastic week in which I completed my Day Skippers Practical with Brixham Sea School aboard Zig Zag with Steve . My fears beforehand of not been able to cope with the course and being on board a boat with strangers were unnecessary. Steve was a great host and cook, as well as being an excellent knowledgeable instructor, he has loads of patience!  I learnt so much and with only 2 other students on board Steve had time to give all of us the instruction we needed. Steve has a very helpful comfortable style of teaching, constantly setting you challenges that make you think but always at hand to help should you need him and ready to answer any question. The week flew by,it was like a holiday and training course on one, with all the food, sheets and quilts provided and no cooking either!
I'm hoping to get lots of practice in over the next year or so and a trip across the channel too! then I'll go back to do my Coastal Skipper!!  Highly recommended.

Neil roger and crewJust a quick Email to say a big  thanks to Brixham Sea School for putting up with us for the nine days and a special thanks to you Steve for managing it!  We all felt that you were a brilliant tutor and your hospitality was excellent in all aspects food was” great” always plenty to eat and drink and accommodation was very comfy aboard Zig Zag. I must say that although it was very intense at times… with lots to learn and take in we all achieved what we set out to do thanks to your passion for sailing,  hard work and patience Steve.

Thanks Tim, for the VHF Radio course I found that interesting and feel safer to be able to get registered and to have the radio available to use

Hopefully see you Guys again soon when I come back down to Brixham to sail my own boat once we get her in the water

Peter taking a bearing 3This week my dreams have been realised and I have chartered a 40' Bavaria from Punta Ala in Italy and sailed to Elba. We are in Porto Azzurro, a beautiful deep inlet on the east coast, the berth was a tight one through a narrow gap which had to be entered stern first! We got it first time, remembering my excellent proffessor Styles hints and tips.  We took fixes, worked out EP's and course to steers, even avoiding the car ferries intent on running us down, by watching their bearings and taking the appropriate action to avoid them.
In short your teaching, from ropework to engine WOBBLE-ing from ignoring the Garmin to balancing the sails so the helm becomes redundant, has all been put to use and remembered with gratitude.  You have been at my side as I scanned the horizon and watched the gannets fishing.  Thank you so much for this Steve.

JamesA big thanks to Tim and Steve from Brixham Sea School for a great day sailing on their superb boats!  We set off from Brixham early on Saturday morning for a fun filled day of sailing along with a few laughs. The whole team at Evosite were lucky enough to be invited by Tim and Steve earlier in the year as a thank you for the website we designed and development for their new sailing school.
We are all now hooked and can't wait to book up a  week to learn more.
If you are looking for something fun to do, either for yourself, your employees or your clients we highly recommend you give these guys a call.

Thanks again guys we all had an excellent day

Martin WakefieldThanks again Tim for a great course. Looking back I’m quite surprised at just how much I learned, and how our fears beforehand of not being able to cope were so comprehensively displaced under your tuition. It’s not often one can actually appreciate the magnitude of the step-change so immediately.

Family Holidays"Hi, my name is Rio and I am 9 years old, I will be 10 in the summer, my brother is 6 and his name is Richard.  During the easter break, Steve from Brixham Sea School joined our family for a week  My Mummy and Daddy needed more training as my brother and I were fed up with showing them how it's done all the time! We all had 5 brilliant days in the Solent, my Daddy and Mummy learned a lot.  As we can now go sailing without them screaming at each other! Captain Steve is the best, and very generous
My Daddy is very happy now we can sail as a happy family again.

Love Rio xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

rach"I needed to renew my First Aid at Sea qualification and having completed a sailing course with Tim last year, was thrilled to learn that I could complete my first aid course with Brixham Sea School. Easy to find and ideally located in the heart of Brixham the classrooms are light and airy with plenty of space. The equipment and first aid book was excellent and the course was well paced and easy to follow. I would happily recommend Brixham Sea School and am sure I'll be back soon to continue learning."

maggi web"I spent 5 days aboard on a Day Skipper course, learning lots and having a whole load of fun.... even in November!! Tim is not just an experienced sailor and an excellent trainer; he’s an all-round great guy too. My ‘best mate’ for most of the time, he was effortlessly able to pull ‘skipper rank’ when a Force 8 demanded. And his culinary skills are amazing... the food was presented miraculously at table as wholesome, appetizing meals at any angle of heel. Have yet to find out if he can also do the ‘walking on water’ trick… but time enough for that next time out!! Can’t wait."

Yvette"Steve's passion for sailing has taken me on a journey that I would never have imagined. Steve was my instructor for my Day Skipper ticket......I even sat my theory exam at his saloon table. I have subsequently returned for my Coastal ticket, have taken my Yachtmaster theory and will be back on Zig Zag for my practical later this year.

Steve's success as a teacher is a combination of many things - he has a great knowledge from years of sailing and racing, his enthusiasm is huge, he challenges you constantly and he makes learning fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brixham Sea School to anyone, be it for an introduction to sailing or going all the way to Yachtmaster.

Zig Zag is a beautiful yacht, well maintained and a pleasure to sail. She has also been equipped with a few extras - sheets and duvets instead of taking your own sleeping bag is a joy, the wide-screen TV and selection of DVD's make for a relaxing evening and Steve will teach you how to create some great food from the galley. Brixham is a perfect place to base a school because there are so many challenging places nearby - compare the school and you will realise that it is fantastic value for money."

Paul Ratcliffe"I was looking for a Sailing School that could offer me a week's tuition and, at the same time, expose my girlfriend to the joys of sailing.  She had never sailed previously and, the team at Brixham Sailing School made the whole experience rewarding for both of us.

We enjoyed a week sailing along the beautiful Jurassic coast around Torbay, moored up overnight in some beautiful places, and had a lot of fun. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone no matter what level of experience. These guys are very professional and we will be back for another week of fun learning. Thanks to Steve, our instructor, my girlfriend is keen to further develop her sailing skills to the next level and sign up to one of their many courses this year."
